"Duality" is the third chapter of I'm Not Okay, named after the Slipknot song of the same name.

Author's note[]

a/n: look, I don't care when the f Harry Potter is in my version it takes place now. BTW, please come up with some goth bands and movies If u notice I used some of the gothic bands! PS: NO PREPS.

Plot[]

Eternity goes up to the Slytherin dorms and meets Sea Parkinson. Hermione and Luna appear, only to stare at the Slytherin students. They arrive at the door and Eternity meets Satan, who she mistakes for Gerard Way.

The goths discuss various bands, and Eternity monologues on how happy she is.

Inconsistencies and divergences from canon[]

  • Many of the bands etc referenced in this chapter were not around when Harry Potter canonically takes place. Of course, as seen in the a/n above, Raven has rather flippantly decided this fic now takes place in the present day (of 2006) and doesn't care when the actual canon take place.
  • Somewhat oddly, Hermione is a prep in this story, a far cry from her gothic form in My Immortal as B'loody Mary Smith or Ghost of You as Maya.
  • Draco and Pansy are not cousins in canon. Raven most likely only did this so that no one could get in the way of Eternity inevitably hooking up with Draco, as in the book series Pansy and him were a couple, but ultimately did not end up together.
  • The entrance to the Slytherin Common Room does not have a portrait as this story describes. Furthermore, Raven claims she looks like the lead singer of Sisters of Mercy, whose frontman is Andrew Eldritch, whose appearance does not even vaguely resemble this portrait character. This seems to suggest she has never actually listened to their music or even looked into them, but when their name was suggested - when Raven requested her readers suggest gothic bands to her - it was assumed they were an all-female band. Alternatively, Raven could be referring to Patricia Morrison, who served as the bassist, and was a prominent member, of the Sisters of Mercy during their Floodland period.
