Chapter Forty is the fortieth chapter of My Immortal. As the continuation rights of the story have now been returned to its rightful, if inept, owner, all events in the previous chapter have been (apparently) undone.
Bizarrely, aside from the author's notes at the start and end, the content of this chapter was already in the previous one right after the hacker's own. Why this is the case is unknown, although the hacker author may have decided to make it a separate chapter for the ease of reading but forgot to remove it from the previous one. This can cause dramatic readings to effectively read two chapters in one, and thus to have to skip this or the previous one.

Plot[]
Ebony wakes up in the Norse's office in the present day, next to the injured Hairgrid. Voldemort appears in front of her yet again, though he seems more "selective" than usual, and even cries tears of blood, implying that all this time travel is changing history and making him less evil.
He leaves when Enoby's friends arrive and unsuccessfully attempt to explain the plot. Apparently, when the bullet hit her she was sent forward in time instead of dying, as the bullet couldn't kill her since she was from another time. It is revealed that Snap had possessed James, though the narrative describes it as Snap possessing himself, and that's why James had tried to shoot Lucian on the stage, as Snap is really a Death Dealer. Ebony notices Lucian now has two arms.
Enoby's friends all give her presents in "blak boxez". She only opens one of them, a DVD of "Corps Bride".
Enoby and her friends go back to the "Conmen Room" to see "Hose of Wax", listen to GC, and cut themselves some more, when, to their surprise, they see Snap doing it with Draco. Vampire accuses Draco of betraying them as Willow tries to attack him, calling him a prep. Ebony runs suicidally to her room and sexily takes a steak out. As Draco calls out to her, Enoby slits her wrists with it, and "everyfing goes blak" again.
Inconsistencies and divergences from canon[]
- In this story, it's the vampires who cry blood. However, Voldemort is one of the few characters in this story who is not a vampire, meaning that he shouldn't be able to do so, yet he does.
- Time travel is never implied to render its user immune to harm in canon. It is still possible for someone with a time turner to die even if they travel backwards in time.
