Dracula, formerly known as Navel, is a character in My Immortal. He appears to be based on Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter series.

Background[]

Originally, Dracula was called Navel before going goth, which is probably why he changed his name in the first place. He was kidnapped as a baby after his vampire parents "dyed" in a car crash. At one point, like B'loody Mary, he was apparently a member of Griffindoor house, but was moved to Slitherin after becoming a Satanist goff.

Like other male goffs, he has been made bisexual by Tara and considers Mikey Way, Gerard Way, and Billie Jo Armstrong "so f**king hot".[1]

Role in the story[]

Dracula is one of Ebony's friends who is sometimes in a scene, but never really does anything.

It appears that he and B'loody Mary may be in a relationship, as he is her date for the MCR concert. The six of them do "pot, coke and crak" with two other couples (Draco and Ebony, and Diabolo and Willow) in Draco's flying car.

In the final chapter, he and Diabolo have developed an interest in firearms, as they attempt using their guns against Voldemort. Nevel's wand is the one that Vlodemort tries to summon (even though he presumably has access to his own wand).

Appearance[]

Upon his first appearance, Dracula is described as "wearing a black Wurped t-shirt, black jeans and shoes and black hair wif red streekz in it".[2]

Personality[]

Like other minor goffs, he has no discernible personality traits.

Differences from the original[]

Like other canon characters, Navel had become a "goffic" Satanist and is now in Slytherin. Tara has apparently also changed his relationship with Hermione - in Rowling's book they were classmates and fellow Gryffindors, whereas in My Immortal they are implied to be dating.

Another notable change involves Neville's backstory, since in Rowling's series his parents were tortured to the point of insanity by Death Eaters. Navel's were a pair of vampires who died in a car accident, while Navel was kidnapped at birth.

Also, while the original Neville was kind-natured and occasionally clumsy when younger, the"Dracola" incarnation uses inappropriate language and does "pot, coke and crak" with friends. Rowling's Neville would also be unlikely to possess or know how to use firearms, since canonically he was underage by muggle standards and raised by his pure-blood grandmother, on top of the general inaccessibility of firearms in England.

Trivia[]

  • Interestingly, Navel shares his backstory not only with B'loody Mary, but also with the canonical Harry, who grew up thinking that his parents had died in a car accident.
