Films[]
It is unusual for witches and wizards in the Harry Potter universe to watch films, however, in the world of My Immortal, films are often viewed. They match the genres and styles enjoyed by (but uncertain if some have actually been seen by) the author, Tara Gilesbie.
The Corpse Bride[]
The Corpse Bride is a film that Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way assumes Vampire Potter is watching in Chapter Ten. Later, in Chapter Thirty-Nine, when Tara awakens in the Norse's office, she is given a black box with red 666s on it, and inside is a DVD of "corps bride".

It is presumably the 2005 stop-motion animated film by Tim Burton. (It does not have 'The' in the title) However Tara describes it as "depressing", which may indicate Tara has never seen the movie and assumed it was a much more melancholic or horrifying film than it actually is.
The Exercise[]
Egogpy and Satan "watch" The Exercise.
The Exercise, (also known as da Excercist[1]) is a film that Ebony views with her date, Satan. In the film, a couple are interrupted from sex by a killer of bran flakes.
Ebony and Stan were admonished by a lady prep for their half naked Make Out session. After attacking the lady, the two retreat from the theater, lamenting that they could not finish this film.

Other media in universe is "presumably based on" their real life counterpart. However, even a severely impaired box turtle with a very busy schedule can tell that Tara has not seen this film. This is not even an 80's movie, The Exorcist being released in 1973, which ironically would have been when James, Snape etc were students at Hogwarts.
Da Grudge[]
Da Grudge is a film enjoyed by Ebony. She makes out with Draco Malfoy in a way that she saw in this film.[2]
Hose of Wax[]
Hose of Wax, also called Hoes of Wax, presumably a typo for House of Wax, is a 2005 slasher film that is a remake of the 1953 film of the same name. Paris Hilton plays the lead protagonist.
This film is mentioned twice in Chapter 40, when Draco is said to be watching it.
Lake Placid[]
Lake Placid[3] is a film that Ebony watched with Draco after their escape from Mr. Norris and Filch the cat. Despite being a monster movie about giant crocodiles, Tara describes it as being "deprezzin".[4]
Mr. & Mr. Simth[]
Dress slit on the left
Mr. & Mr. Simth is a film that is referenced in Chapter Thirty-Four when Ebony narrates that her dress has a slit "lik in mr & mr simth".
It is presumably intended to be Mr. & Mrs. Smith, a 2005 romantic action film.
Das niteMARE b4 xmas[]

Das niteMARE b4 xmas (also known as Da Nigtmare b4 Xmas[5] and Nightmare b4 Christmas[1]) was one of a few "goffic" movies that Ebony and B'loody Mary watched while "felling deprezzed". During the film the two surmised about the hope that Willow will die, in addition to her expulsion. B'loody Mary agrees "enrgtically lethrigcly", then immediately confirms that Willow is dead, murdered by her hand.[6]
In Chapter 34, Sodomize reveals that Vampire and Draco were excused from class and were watching the film.
Despite being a film for under-age persons (if it is indeed, Tim Burton's stop-motion animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas), the film bizarrely has a tobacco tie in, as Satan has Nightmare b4 Christmas branded cigars.

Tara might have seen this film, as she describes it as being gothic. While the film does not have the Ebony-world goth in mind, it does have some dark humor that comes with the worlds of Christmas and Halloween colliding.
It should go without saying that The Nightmare Before Christmas does not have tie-in tobacco products, despite Satan having one in the 1980s, which was before the movie even came out (which was 1993).
Da Ring 2[]
Da Ring 2 is a film that Ebony has seen, as she is worried that her visions from Voldemort means possession.[7] She clearly enjoys The Ring as a series, considering she references Samara several times.
Saw 2[]
Saw 2 is a film enjoyed by Ebony. During the unfinished finale, Ebony wishes she would rather be watching this film, as well as Shark Attak 3, with her friends while they engage in self harm.[8]
Shark Attak 3[]
Goffik? Really?
Shark Attak 3 (aka shrak atak 3[2]) is a film enjoyed by Ebony. During the unfinished finale, Ebony wishes she would rather be watching this film, as well as Saw 2, with her friends while they engage in self harm.[8]
Undreworld[]

Undrewolrd is a film that Ebony has seen. She "pots on a blak leather outfit fingie kinda like da 1 Suelene haz."[2]
Overall notes[]
In general, it appears monster movies of any kind are to be considered "goffik", even if they feature animals and do not have dark aesthetics. Stop-motion films are pleasantly well represented.

Bufy the Vampire Slayer[]

Bufy the Vampire Slayer is a 1997-2003 drama series that Tara was apparently a fan of. There are many nods to this series in My Immortal.
Games[]
Redisnet Evill[]
Ebony straps a blak gun that Proffesor Sinister gave her to her leg in a similar fashion seen in the video game Resident Evil.[9] However, it's quite likely Tara was referencing the movie franchise starring Mila Jokovich rather than the games, as she never otherwise shows any interest in video games.

Vrampir Kroniklz[]
The Vrampir Kroniklz, originally The Vampire Chronicles, is a book series on vampires written by Anne Rice.
It is referenced by Tara in an author's note in Chapter Twenty-Nine, in reference to Ebony crying blood.
