Green Day is a American rock band (fronted by Billy Joel) that Tara listens to. In My Immortal, Tara says that Green Day is a band that was popular with 'goffs' in the 1980s, despite Green Day not having released any music until 1989, and being a rock band, not an emo band. This just adds to the staggering amount anachronisms in the time travel plot.
