A pentagram, the symbol of Stanism.
- "Why couldn't Satan have made me less beautiful?"
- ―Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way
"Stanism" is a typo for Satanism,[1] which is apparently the religion for all goffs. In the My Immortal-verse, being a Satanist is a requirement for being accepted into Slytherin House, as all Slytherins in the fanfic converted to this religion.
In the real world, modern Satanism is actually an individualist philosophy which views the Christian religion as hypocritical. It does not worship Satan as a deity. In My Immortal, however, Satanism does involve the worship of Satan. Characters frequently proclaim things like "Oh my Satan!" and, at one occasion, Ebony even laments that Satan should made her less beautiful, seeing all the attention she gets as a curse. This suggests that Stanists think Satan created either the vampire race or humanity as a whole.
What makes this even stranger is that there are, in fact, two separate characters that go by the name Satan, namely Tom Satan Bombodil AKA Voldemort and Satan from I'm Not Okay. It is possible that they are Stanists too.
