Inspired by one of my own comments in the discussion forums of this wiki, I noticed there are several similarities between Ebony and a Dementor. To list them:
- Both seem to suck out all the joy out of their immediate surroundings. People who were near a Dementor describe as if they could never feel happy again. People who spend time near Enoby are suddenly obsessed with goffikness, suicide, depressing movies and music and suddenly gain sad and dramatic backstories.
- Both thrive in horribly depressing conditions. The reason why Dementors suck all the joy away, is because they thrive in the sorrowful conditions they create. This sounds really like Ebony, who is obsessed with everything that is linked to depression. Just look at the amount of depressing movies she watches and the amount of times she suicidally or depressingly does something.
- Both wear black.
So I came to the conclusion Ebony is a new species of Dementor that is more powerful than your standard Dementor. While swarms of Dementors are able to create a chillingly cold mist wherever they go, Ebony is able to distort the entire world she lives in, making it a gloomy and depressing place. Just look at the amount of misery the canon characters go through when they hang out with her. It even goes as far that some characters gain sad and dramatic pasts, despite having fairly normal upbringings in their original incarnations. This could mean that Ebony's aura of misery even transcends time itself, altering the past to suit her own depressing needs.
While she may claim she is a vampire, she isn't fooling me anymore. She is just a highly evolved Dementor with the power to take the form of a teenage girl.
